FILMED IN BOULDER

Coach Prime did not start in Boulder. Its first season follows Deion Sanders at Jackson State University in Mississippi. The cameras moved here with him: the second and third seasons, 11 of the 15 episodes, follow his Colorado Buffaloes through 2023 and 2024, at home and on the road.

Here, the documented filming is on the University of Colorado Boulder campus, under an agreement with SMAC Productions. A university notice dated August 2, 2023 named three primary locations for season 2: Folsom Field, the Champions Center and the Indoor Practice Facility. The season’s first episode opens on a drone shot over Folsom Field and builds to the spring game of April 22, 2023, when an announced crowd of 47,277 watched 98-year-old fan Peggy Coppom take the opening kick with Sanders holding her hand. Documents filed with the state said the crew of 32 would include 17 local hires, and the season premiered on campus, at the CU Events Center, on December 6, 2023.

ABOUT

Coach Prime follows Deion Sanders, the Pro Football Hall of Fame cornerback turned college head coach, one football season at a time, with cameras in team meetings, at practice and on the sideline. After a first season at Jackson State University in Mississippi, the series moves with him to Boulder, where he takes over a University of Colorado team coming off a 1-11 year and overhauls the roster, bringing his sons Shedeur and Shilo and two-way player Travis Hunter from Jackson State.
