FILMED IN BOULDER

Boulder supplied all three restaurants in the 2010 Boulder episode of Man v. Food. It is a modest credit, one half-hour of a long-running cable series, first shown on the Travel Channel on June 16, 2010. The centerpiece is the West End Tavern at 926 Pearl Street, where Adam Richman took on the Wing King Challenge, fifty wings in thirty minutes, in front of a cheering crowd. Westword reported that the tavern’s March 25, 2010 shoot ran from noon until after midnight, with the kitchen cooking extra wings for the cameras.

Richman also tried the Saddlebags, pancakes filled with bacon or sausage, at The Buff Restaurant, then at 1725 28th Street, and the mountain pie at Beau Jo’s on Baseline Road. The Buff has since moved across Canyon Boulevard, and Beau Jo’s has left Boulder. The revived series, hosted by Casey Webb, returned for a second Boulder episode, first shown in February 2022. The Sink on University Hill says it was his first stop.

ABOUT

Part travelogue and part endurance test, Man v. Food follows its host to a different American city in each half-hour episode as he samples the oversized and fiery specialties local restaurants are known for, then takes on an eating challenge at one of them. Adam Richman hosted the original Travel Channel run from 2008, and Casey Webb took over when the show returned in 2017. The 2010 Boulder episode pairs a Colorado mountain pie and stuffed pancakes with a bucket of fifty wings.
