Vetted Listings

What does a Vetted listing mean?

When you look at someone’s website, you can glean a lot of (hopefully accurate) information – their education, background, experience, equipment list, etc. When you call them and speak on the phone, you can learn even more about them, as well as get a slightly better sense of how they communicate and express themselves. But, there’s nothing like meeting them in-person!

The individuals and companies in our directory that have been vetted have gone through the following process:

  1. A representative from the Boulder County Film Commission that is a professional filmmaker, typically the Film Commissioner themself, will visit the person at their studio or office, and spend 30 to 60 minutes in conversation, discussing a wide variety of topics related to their professional production experience.
  2. If the person has production equipment, a studio, rental gear, etc, we’ll take a look and get a sense of what they’ve got and what kind of condition it’s in.
  3. At the end of our evaluation, if we feel that they’ve successfully demonstrated proficiencies in the following categories, then we indicate on our directory that they’ve been vetted by the Boulder County Film Commission:
      • – As a collaborative crewmember, they have the ability to communicate well in either English or any other language.
      • – They were professional in our correspondence and during our appointment, including being punctual.
      • – They demonstrated skills and knowledge during our evaluation that leads us to believe that they know what they’re talking about.
      • – Overall, they seemed like they’d be a good fit on a crew.

Now, surely our vetting procedure isn’t foolproof, but it most certainly helps. We know what it’s like to come into town and be surprised by who you hired on the phone – “they sounded so great”!

*If, for any reason, the vetting was unsuccessful, vendors will retain a Premium listing, and the monetary difference will be refunded.
