FILMED IN BOULDER
Boulder County’s documented part in this fourteen-episode season is a single challenge. For the third episode, “Keep on Truckin” (first aired December 21, 2017), the chefs left the show’s kitchen for East Boulder Community Park on Sioux Drive. Four teams of three each ran a food truck with a three-item menu aimed at a college crowd. Students voted for their favorite truck, while the judges, joined by Boulder chef Hosea Rosenberg of Blackbelly, winner of Top Chef’s fifth season, named Joe Sasto’s chicken wings the best dish. Logan Paul worked the crowd, and local trucks, among them The Ginger Pig and Farm & Smoke, were part of the challenge.
Bravo’s March 2017 announcement named Boulder a host city, with Denver and Telluride, and the Boulder challenge was shot that spring. The season’s other documented locations are outside the county: the Top Chef kitchen was built in a Thornton warehouse, and other challenges went to Denver, Larkspur, Estes Park in Larimer County, Telluride and Aspen.
ABOUT
For its fifteenth season, Bravo’s cooking competition moved to Colorado, where fifteen chefs from around the country face short timed tests and larger elimination challenges, and most episodes end with one of them going home. Padma Lakshmi hosts, with Tom Colicchio, Gail Simmons and Graham Elliot judging. The challenges lean on the state itself, from a Denver omelet test to campfire cooking in the snow and a Broncos tailgate, before the competition moves on to Telluride and Aspen.
