Gold Hill Inn & Bluebird Lodge
Bar, Restaurant & Brewery / Historic & Period / Hotel, Lodge & Retreat
Indoor & Outdoor
Two neighboring log buildings face north onto Gold Hill’s unpaved Main Street: the Bluebird Lodge, a hewn-log hotel from the 1870s, and the Gold Hill Inn, a round-log dining hall from the 1920s. Both contribute to the National Register’s Gold Hill Historic District.
The lodge is rented only as a whole: nine bedrooms with baths down the hall, two sitting rooms with fireplaces, a dining room, a full kitchen, a front porch and back deck. The Inn holds 110 in its main dining room and 40 in its front room, has a beer garden with a stage, and serves dinner Wednesday through Sunday, May through December.
No paved road reaches Gold Hill, and parking is limited.
By the owners’ account the hotel dates from 1872 and in 1920 became the Bluebird Lodge, a vacation spot for Chicago-area working women. The Finn family has owned both since 1962.
Both are private, so filming is by arrangement with the owners: call the Inn at 303-443-6461. Filming that uses Main Street, a road in unincorporated Boulder County, needs the county’s Events on County Roadways permit, applied for at least seven days ahead.
