FILMED IN BOULDER

Boulder hosted several weeks of this feature’s six-week shoot, from February to April 2025. The production rented the whole Hotel Boulderado, where 160 cast and crew stayed, and dressed its basement bar, License No. 1, as a fine-dining restaurant. Crews filmed outside the Boulder Theater on March 27, the day officials gathered there to announce that the Sundance Film Festival would move to Boulder. A couple of days later, the marquee read “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” to match the film’s 1969 setting.

Cameras also worked outside Macky Auditorium at the University of Colorado Boulder, and a car stunt was filmed on Pine Street. Other Boulder scenes were shot at Chautauqua Park, the Boulder County Courthouse, Sacred Heart of Jesus church and the Boulder Zen Center. The rest of the shoot was spread across Denver, Fort Collins and other Front Range towns. The Boulder County Film Commission helped connect the production with local crew, and about 90% of the crew was local.

ABOUT

In 1969, Bud Stoecker, a structural engineer raising five children north of Denver, sets out to build a business the whole family can share. Two people shape his course: the futurist Buckminster Fuller, whom he hears speak at the University of Colorado, and his wife, Lollie, who keeps him grounded as money runs short and others doubt him. Drawn from a real Colorado family, the story moves between the 1940s, the 1960s and the present day.
