Pearl Street Mall

Pearl Street Mall is four car-free blocks in downtown Boulder, lying roughly east-west between 11th Street and 15th Street. Brick paving runs from facade to facade, set with planters, benches and public art. Most storefronts stand one to three stories tall, and the foothills close the view to the west.

It reads as a working main street of shops and restaurants. Street performers play without amplification, as City rules require. Trees shade it in summer, and most stand bare in winter. Broadway, 13th Street and 14th Street cross it, and the 1300 block opens onto the Boulder County Courthouse lawn.

The mall lies within the Downtown Historic District, which the City calls Boulder’s largest and most architecturally significant group of commercial buildings. The blocks closed to traffic in June 1976 and were dedicated on August 6, 1977.

The mall is a City of Boulder park. Filming needs the City’s film permit, handled by the Office of Special Events; apply at least 14 days before the shoot. Crews may not block pedestrian access, and scheduled events take priority. Shop interiors are private property, arranged with each owner.
